The Department of National Defence has seven main
Headquarters in Ottawa. We've listed the locations along with
the expected travel time from several of Ottawa's most popular
neighbourhoods.
1 3500 Carling Avenue, Kanata
This property used to be the campus for tech company, Nortel. It is located at the
intersection of Carling and Moodie in the west end of the city. By 2020, 8500 military
employees are expected to be moved to this location1.
The move was supposed to start happening in 2014. It was delayed to 2015. It is expected
to start sometime in 2016, but even that is not certain yet2.

Understanding Ottawa's bus routes
2101 Colonel By - Downtown Ottawa
This office is downtown, at the intersection of Nicholas St. and Laurier Ave. Until the move
to the Carling Kanata office is complete, this is the main DND office in Ottawa1.

31600 Startop Road, East Ottawa
This building is the home to Operational Commands Canada COM, CANOSCOM, CEFCOM, CANSOFCOM and CFSU. It is
located in the East end of the city.

- Orleans - 10 minute drive or 28 minutes by bus
- Kanata - 20-40 minute drive or 60 minutes by bus
- Stittsville - 30-40 minute drive or 85 minutes by bus
- Barrhaven - 25 minute drive or 60 minutes by bus

4 567 Gatineau HQ Locations
There are four HQ locations in Gatineau Quebec which is very close to Ottawa:
Hotel de Ville Stree - Hull sector
Sacre-Coeur Street - West end of Gatineau
455 Carriere Blvd - near Casino Lac Leamy
Cite des Jeunes - North end
Gatineau is approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown ottawa, but it can be longer during
high traffic times

- Orleans - 24 minute drive
- Barrhaven - 33 minute drive
