Centrepointe is one of the most central communities in the city. It is bounded by Baseline Road, Pineview/ Mapleview/ Wycliffe Crescents, Woodroffe Avenue, and Marble Arch Crescent. The communities was developed in 1985 as a residential subdivision which makes it one of the newer communities in Ottawa. Most of the residents of Centrepointe speak English as their official language but their is a small percentage of people who speak French or another language. Centrepointe also boasts a large public transit hub in their community with Baseline Station being only minutes away from the community. There are four schools and two churches in the neighbourhood.
Centrepointe has many opportunities for its residents to relax and enjoy recreational activities.The neighbourhood has one of the largest parks in the city. Baseball diamonds, sports fields, play structures, basketball courts, a splash pad, and even a small lake are all available to be enjoyed by residents of the neighbourhood. Centrepointe even has a skateboard park for the younger, daring members of the neighbourhood. Centrepointe Theatres brings sophistication and art in the form of theatre productions and concerts to the community and has hosted many artists and productions both amateur and professional. Every year the Centrepointe community comes together for community events. There is a community park cleanup every spring. A large community garage sale that sees a large turnout of both participants and attendees. And finally, the city councillor hosts a family fun celebration and fireworks in the park in celebration of the New Year.
