Riverside and Mooney's Bay is a small community in Ottawa south surrounding Walkley Road between the Rideau River and the Airport Parkway. The community was originally settled in the early 1900's and was largely developed in the 1970's. Mooney's Bay Park and beach are both very popular with people from all over the city and host festivals and fundraisers throughout the year. Approximately ten percent of the residents speak another language other than the official Canadian languages primarily at the home and the rest of the population is mainly English speaking. The residents of the community live mainly in single family homes but the community has row homes and large apartment buildings as well.

Recreational Opportunities

Mooney's Bay Park and beach is the most popular recreational feature of the community but is only one of many recreational opportunities available to the residents. The Terry Fox Athletic Facility has both a sports field and a track and hosts both sports games and track and field meets. There are also baseball diamonds, basketball courts, outdoor rinks, play structures, volleyball courts, tennis courts, splash pads, and a skateboard park in the parks scattered throughout the community. The community is home to five restaurants for its residents to enjoy a family dinner or a night out with friends.
